Rangers' top prospect Jurickson Profar extended his hitting streak to 20 games and first-rounder Barret Loux became the Minors' first seven-game winner this season in the RoughRiders' 10-2 win over the Corpus Christi Hooks.
MLB.com's No. 6 prospect Profar grounded out in the first inning and struck out looking in the third before running his streak to 20 games with a line drive to left field to begin the fifth.
The 19-year-old shortstop then flew out to center field for the second out of the sixth frame, he ripped a two-run double to left field in the eighth and he struck out in the ninth.
Right-hander Loux, meanwhile, surrendered two runs on four hits and a pair of walks over 5 1/3 innings to improve to 7-0.
The 23-year-old Texas A&M product saw his ERA rise from 2.20 to 2.37, but he has not allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts this year. Texas' No. 19 prospect has allowed 10 runs over 38 innings and struck out 39 batters.
At 22-11, the RoughRiders have the second-highest winning percentage of all Double-A teams and the best overall record in the Texas League. The team is 3.5 games ahead of the second-place Midland RockHounds in the South Division.
It is no surprise the RoughRiders' hot start has coincided with Profar's streak.
He has now hit in every game since going 0-2 at home to Akron on April 17, and he has reached base in each of his last 28 contests. The only time he did not reach base safely was in the second game of the year April 6, when he went 0-for-4.
Over the course of the 20-game hitting streak, the native of Curacao has raised his average from .200 to .264. He has five two-hit games and 15 other appearances in which he kept the streak alive with a lone base hit. Profar has one three-hit game this season, but it came April 14 against the Springfield Cardinals before the current streak began.
Profar's streak ranks second in the Minors and first in the Texas League, both by three games.
Peoria's Paul Hoilman has the longest consecutive run this year in pro baseball at 23 games, while Northwest Arkansas' Wil Myers is second with an active 17-game streak in the Texas League.
