R-Phils Announce Top "20" Promotions (11-20)

Last year we announced our "Top Ten" promotions, and fans really seemed to enjoy the concept of a Top Ten Promotions List", said R-Phils GM Scott Hunsicker. "This year we have so many promotions, we were struggling to decide on the Top Ten, so we decided what the heck, let's do a Top Twenty."

(Reading, PA) – Last week, the R-Phils announced their plans for Opening Weekend of the 2011 season. Now, the R-Phils are pleased to release their top twenty promotions of the season -- giving fans of all ages, even more reasons to come out to the newly renovated FirstEnergy Stadium this season.

“Last year we announced our Top Ten promotions, and fans really seemed to enjoy the concept of a Top Ten Promotions List”, said R-Phils GM Scott Hunsicker. “This year we have so many promotions, we were struggling to decide on the Top Ten, so we decided what the heck, let’s do a Top Twenty. We’ll release ten today and ten tomorrow. So here are the R-Phils best promotions for 2011, numbers 11-20…”

11. Mother’s Day & Father’s Day – On Sunday, May 15, the R-Phils are set to celebrate a belated Mother’s Day when the first 2,000 women 18 and over will receive a Mother’s Day R-Phils Pink Compact Umbrella, courtesy of Coventry Corners. Sunday is also Breast Cancer Awareness, with R-Phils players wearing special Pink Jerseys. Fans will have their chance to own one of the special Pink Jerseys, thanks to a Jersey Auction/Raffle, courtesy of 830 AM WEEU, 69 NEWS Berks Edition, and the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. Also, $5 of every picnic area ticket will be donated to PA Breast Cancer Coalition. Along with a free ticket to the game, for all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members, each member can enjoy a pre-game Q& A with R-Phils players at 11:00 a.m.

On Sunday, June 19, the R-Phils will celebrate Father’s Day at the park and the first 2,000 men 18 and over will receive a Father’s Day R-Phils Fedora, courtesy of the Center for Urologic Care of Berks County. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members will be able to enter the ballpark and take part in a special “Play Catch on the Field with Dad”. Prostate Cancer Awareness will also be the focus of the day, and all R-Phils players will wear special Powder Blue Jerseys for the game. Fans will have their chance to take home the jerseys, thanks to a Jersey Raffle/Auction to Fight Prostate Cancer. And after the game, an R-Phils Father’s Day tradition – all fans can take the field and play catch with dad -- both of these games are Sundays! (see # 15)

12. All Kids Throw Out a First-Pitch & All Kids Can Hit a Ball at Home Plate – This might seem crazy – but on Sunday, May 22, all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members can throw out a ceremonial first pitch on the field! VIST Financial Plaza gates will open at 10:30 a.m. for all the Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members, and the first 2,000 kids will receive a Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Night Light, courtesy of Diakon Adoption and Foster Care, and Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network. As part of the thrilling day at the park, all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members can take the field and throw out a first pitch, beginning at 10:30 a.m., thanks to Redner’s Warehouse Markets, Reading Eagle, and 69 News Berks Edition. There will also be a special Dr Seuss “Cat in the Hat” Meet and Greet, courtesy of PBS 39.

And as if that wasn’t crazy enough, on Sunday, August 28, all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members can step-up to home plate and hit a baseball! VIST Financial Plaza gates will open at 10:30 a.m. for all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members, and the first 2,000 kids will receive a Ryan Howard Pillow Case. All Kids Club members will also get their chance to take the field and “Hit a Ball from Home Plate” beginning at 10:30. There will also be a special Curious George Meet and Greet, thanks to PBS 39 – and both of these games are Sundays! (see # 15)

13. Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Tribute and One Lucky Fan Wins a 550 lb. Life-Size Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Grand Prize Giveaway – All fans of the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor will want to mark Sunday, July 10 on their calendar, as the R-Phils have an amazing night planned. The first 2,000 kids will receive a “Future Crazy Hot Dog Vendor” T-Shirt, thanks to Redner’s Warehouse Markets – a great way for all kids to show their R-Phils and Crazy Hot Dog Vendor pride. As part of the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Tribute, all Kids Club members can take part in a special Q & A with the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor, and perform with him on field during the pre-game. The R-Phils will also wear special Crazy Hot Dog Vendor jerseys for the game and new for 2011, one lucky fan will win the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Grand Prize - a Life-Size Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Bobblehead -- estimated at 550 lbs., thanks to Rock Hits Y102. The Life-Size Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Bobblehead will make a great addition to anyone’s collection -- and it’s a Sunday as well! (see # 15)

14. 10th Anniversary National Penn Bank R-Phils Mascot Band T-Shirt - The 2011 season, presented by Pepsi, marks the 10th anniversary of the National Penn Bank R-Phils Mascot Band. For the past nine years, the band has entertained fans at FirstEnergy Stadium, and beyond, and this year is sure to be their best ever. On Sunday, August 21, the R-Phils will hand out a 10th Anniversary National Penn Bank Mascot Band T-Shirt to the first 2,000 kids, thanks to Stroehmann's. The first 2,000 adults will also receieve a Free Loaf of Bread, thanks to Stroehmann's. VIST Financial Plaza gates will open at 11:00 a.m. so Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members can enjoy a special R-Phils Mascot Band pre-game concert -- and it’s a Sunday! (see # 15)

15. Sundays - Sundays at FirstEnergy Stadium this season are going to be a day for all fans to remember and enjoy, as the R-Phils have a full day of events planned – every Sunday! Joining the Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club is free, and Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members receive a free ticket to all 11 Sunday games. Every Sunday includes a special experience exclusively for Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members.

In addition, all fans can chow down on delicious $1 hot dogs, thanks to Berks Packing and Stroehmann’s, and all fans can enjoy a post-game Run the Bases, thanks to 69 News Berks Edition. And, new for 2011, the R-Phils present Flat Screens and Bicycles Sundays, courtesy of Red Robin and Maidencreek TV & Appliance. Every Sunday, the R-Phils will give away two flat screen televisions and three bicycles to lucky fans.

16. Tailgate Chair, Darren Daulton, & 1983 Pricing – On Wednesday, June 1, the R-Phils are set to host the Akron Aeros in a 2:05 p.m. contest – and although the year is 2011, this day at FirstEnergy Stadium will feel like it is 1983, thanks to a great offer from the R-Phils. The R-Phils will Turn Back the Clock to the Darren Daulton 1983 R-Phils, with 1983 prices on tickets, food and beer, courtesy of 830 AM WEEU. Fans can get a ticket to the game for the price it cost in 1983. Ticket prices are as follows: Child/Senior GA - $1.50, Adult GA - $3.50, and Green Reserved Seat - $4.50 (Yellow and Blue Box are regular price). Fans can also enjoy $1 concession menu items, as well as a special $2 Happy Hour on beer.

The day will also serve as Bobby Bubbenmoyer PA Dutch Night featuring Darren "Dutch" Daulton Autograph/Photo Session, thanks to Yuengling/830 AM WEEU. Fans will be able to meet the legendary catcher on Wednesday. Also, there will be great musical entertainment on the Weston Center Winning Smiles Stage, with great music of the 1980’s, and the first 2,000 adults will receive an R-Phils Tailgate Chair, thanks to Apex Community Federal Credit Union. Tailgates will be even better with this great R-Phils Tailgate Chair.

17. America’s Classic Ballpark T-Shirt & Tribute to Elvis with Jeff Krick - The first 2,500 adults who come out to America’s Classic Ballpark on Wednesday, August 17, will receive an America’s Classic Ballpark T-Shirt, thanks to Texstyles Screen Printing and Embroidery/Keystone T’s. All fans who come out to the game will also be in for a real treat, as the R-Phils are set to pay tribute to Elvis Presley, featuring Jeff Krick, thanks to 830 AM WEEU. Jeff Krick will take the Weston Center Winning Smiles Stage as Elvis Presley and sing great Elvis tunes for 60-magical minutes. Jeff will later perform on-field during an exciting pre-game show, and as part of a post-game concert.

18. Harley Night (Harley Jersey Raffle/Auction for MDA) - On Saturday, August 27, the R-Phils will hold their annual Harley Night, thanks to Classic Harley-Davidson, and all fans in attendance will be in for a great night at the ballpark. The entire night will revolve around Harley Davidson, and the R-Phils have some great things planned. The first 2,500 adults 18 and over will receive an R-Phils 2011 Harley Night Game Cap, and the game also features post-game fireworks, all thanks to Classic Harley Davidson. Also, new for Harley Night 2011, R-Phils players will wear special Harley jerseys, that will be given to fans as part of a Game Worn Jersey Auction/Raffle, with all proceeds benefitting MDA.

19. Crazy Hair Hat with 11th Annual Chilli Festival & Jimmy Buffet Night - On Wednesday, July 27, the first 2,000 adults 21+ will receive an R-Phils Crazy Hair Hat, courtesy of All Star Dist. The stylish hat features a head of synthetic “hair”, and will sure to be a favorite among those in Baseballtown this season. Wednesday’s game also features Jimmy Buffet Night, with a great concert on the Weston Center Winning Smiles Stage, thanks to Y102. Fans of the legendary Jimmy Buffet – “Parrotheads”, can expect great Jimmy Buffet music all night long. The R-Phils will also hold their annual Chili Fest, with this year’s being the 11th Annual. Fans who love chili will want to come out for a delicious night, featuring some of the best chili vendors around in VIST Financial Plaza.

20. 29 Post-Game Fireworks Shows - The 2011 season, presented by Pepsi, will be a blast on 29 occasions, as the R-Phils have added 29 spectacular fireworks shows to their schedule – one more than last year! The R-Phils will light up the sky for the first time in 2011 on Saturday, April 30 with fireworks presented by Carpenter Technology Corporation. Fans can ohh and ahh at great fireworks at America’s Classic Ballpark this season, and every Thursday home game, beginning with the Thursday, June 9 game, the R-Phils will have Thursday Night Fireworks, presented by Pepsi.
